I’m Michelle O’Connor-Ratcliff, and I’m running for re-election to the Poway Unified School Board.
My work on the School Board during my first term has led to important shifts in Poway Unified’s culture and priorities. As Board President for two years, I led efforts to restore accountability, communication, and transparency by hiring new administrators, implementing necessary internal financial controls, and increasing community engagement in decision-making. Visiting every school site has helped me build trust and cooperation among stakeholders. Consider the results: PUSD is ranked in the top 3% of districts nationwide with an A+ rating!
As an alumni of PUSD, daughter of two retired PUSD teachers, and parent of two PUSD students, I am invested in the continued excellence of our district. With degrees from Stanford University and UC Hastings Law, I teach Business Law at the University of San Diego and serve as a Girl Scout troop leader and Executive Board member of two PTAs. I am also the parent of a child with special needs and have focused significant time advocating for district special education reforms.
I’m proud of the work I’ve helped lead, and I’m excited about the positive momentum in Poway Unified. There is still work to be done. I’ll keep putting our children first and focusing on the ABCs:
- Advocating for the needs of ALL children
- Building community between schools, students, staff, administrators, and parents
- Closing gaps in equity, inclusion, safety, and innovation
I respectfully ask for your support and your vote.
